National Volunteer Week

Luncheon Snip

The Grande Prairie Volunteer Service Bureau celebrated National Volunteer Week (April 24 to 29, 2017) on Wednesday, April 26, 2016 with our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held at Revolution Place. GPVSB & Community members from Grande Prairie and Surrounding Area came and joined us and Special Guest, the Hon. Betty Unger to celebrate and thank the Volunteers of our communities whose dedication and efforts make the world a better place and make it possible for so many great things we take for granted to happen.

The GPVSB was honoured to have Mrs. Unger return home to the Peace Country and celebrate National Volunteer Week with us.  Mrs. Unger is the first woman in Canadian history to be elected as a Senate Nominee and then appointed as a Senator by the Prime Minister.

The Luncheon hosted The Leaders of Tomorrow Awards presented by ATCO, honouring outstanding young Leaders in Grande Prairie and the surrounding areaThe Luncheon also hosted the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards for the first time!  These awards recognize all of the amazing things young people can do and encourage learning outside the boundaries of formal education, the Award empowers them to discover hidden talents, develop untapped leadership potential, make a difference in their community and explore the wonders of the great outdoors.

This years event was agreat success and we thank everyone for attending and hope to see you next year.
