Help out at this year's Street Performers Festival  - July 23rd - 25th, 2010!

 


Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far! We look forward to working with you at the Festival.

The Street Performers Festival Committee is currently recruiting volunteers for the 2010 Street Performers Festival.
Volunteers are needed for nearly every aspect of the Festival, so there are many exciting volunteer opportunities available. A few of the volunteer positions available are:
 
Position Title: 
Festival Set Up/Take Down Crew
 
Position Type:
As Needed
 
Brief Description:
Assist in pre-festival set up and/or post-festival take down.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 Festival Set Up/Take Down Crew will arrive at SPF Site (downtown GP) at 12:00 pm on Friday, July 23rd to assist with the set up of Festival materials (tents, banners, etc).
 Festival Set Up/Take Down Crew will arrive at SPF Site (downtown GP) at 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 25th to help with the disassembly of festival materials.
 
Qualifications:
 Must be physically able to lift and carry heavy weight
 Basic knowledge of tools
 Time flexibility
 Reliable
 
Time Commitment:
Friday, July 23, 2010: 12:00pm to 4:00pm
and/or
Sunday, July 25, 2010: 5:00pm to 7:00pm


 
Position Title:
Volunteer Services/Team Leaders
 
Position Type:
As Needed
 
Brief Description:
Volunteers will assist the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau with the overall management and supervision of volunteers at the 2010 Street Performers Festival.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Station A: Volunteer Check-In
 Welcome volunteers
 Sign in volunteers, mark arrival on master schedule

Station B: Traffic Director/Team Leader
 Direct volunteers to assigned positions
 Assign required materials to volunteers (for example: gloves, pen, paper)
 Traffic Director/Team Leader will be asked to supervise festival volunteers, delegate tasks, ensure volunteers are taking breaks, etc

Station C: Coat Check/Refreshments
 Monitor personal possession area
 Monitor food station for cleanliness and food quality

Qualifications:

 Supervisory/Management experience preferable
 Food service experience desirable
 Basic Police Information Check (PIC)
 Organization Skills: Keep Volunteer Sign-In Binder organized; maintain Coat Check/Personal Possession Area and Volunteer Break Area.
 
Time Commitment:
3 to 5 hour shifts available.


Position Title:
Environment Services
 
Position Type:
As Needed
 
Brief Description:
Volunteers will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Festival Site.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
• Using equipment provided, pick up debris from the ground and place in appropriate garbage/recycling containers
• Remove filled bags from garbage / recycling containers and transport to the allocated garbage station (wagons will be provided for transporting)
• Replace bags in garbage / recycling containers

Qualifications:

• Must be reliable
• Able to lift and carry heavy weight short distances
Time Commitment:
3 to 4 hour shifts available


Position Title:
Performance Circle Attendants
 
Position Type:
As Needed
 
Brief Description:
Assist performers with equipment set up/take down. Maintain cleanliness of performance circle.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 Ensure sponsor sandwich boards are located in the performance circle
 Set up/take down equipment as needed
 Maintain performance circles by controlling crowd and preventing smoking within the audience circles
 Put sponsor sandwich boards away at the end of each shift
 
Qualifications:
 Physical strength to assist with audio equipment
 Assertive attitude to manage crowd
 
Time Commitment:
3 to 4 hour shifts available


Position Title:
Security

Position Type:
As Needed

Brief Description:
Security is the first point of contact in emergency situations. Volunteers will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment for all.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Act as emergency contact point
 Report incident details to SPF Committee Members
 Report unlawful acts to festival organizers/authorities
 Keep unauthorized vehicles out of festival
 Enforce no skateboarding, bikes or rollerblades on site
 Crown control – ensure store fronts are not being blocked
 

Qualifications:
 A background in security is preferable
 Police Information Checks (PIC) and Child and Youth Information Management (CYIM) Checks will be required
 Assertive attitude
Time Commitment:
3 to 4 hour shifts available

Volunteer Appreciation BBQ:

Date: Sunday, July 18, 2010
Time: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Location: 9825 - 75th Avenue
Join us at 9825 - 75th Avenue for a free BBQ and to pick up your volunteer orientation package!
If you can not make it to this event, your volunteer orientation package will be available for pick-up at the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau office, we are located at #103, 9823 - 116 Avenue (Macro Centre Plaza).
Volunteer orientation packages must be picked up prior to the Festival!
